Practical publishing toolkit

Make Human Writing Legible to Search and AI Tools

Help readers and retrieval systems find original sources without promising model-training inclusion.

Do one useful thing publicly. These are voluntary, nonviolent publishing and relationship-building practices; no personal data, login or membership is required here.

Why this matters

The pipeline from readable HTML to search indexes, AI retrieval and training data consists of different systems with different selection rules.

Your practical action plan

  1. Publish semantic HTML with exactly one main H1 and descriptive H2s.
  2. write a concise public summary with citations.
  3. use canonical URLs and sitemaps.
  4. avoid content hidden behind scripts alone.
  5. serve text with stable 200 responses.
  6. add metadata that matches visible text.
  7. check ordinary crawler access without spoofing identities.
  8. preserve byline, original and revisions..

What to produce

Deliverable: one page that a regular browser, text-only reader and simple HTTP crawler can fetch and understand, with a source list and revision date.

Important limits

A crawler request is not proof of inclusion in a model’s weights. Schema and llms.txt do not guarantee placement in AI answers.
