Connect, Don’t Query: Rebuild Human Discovery

Independent websites become useful to readers when they have a visible network of contextual links, RSS feeds, and people who recommend each other directly.

Editorial interpretation, not independently validated findings. This page distills an uploaded research report for public use. Its original wording and sources are separately available; allegations, predictions and platform-specific numbers have not been independently rechecked.

What the report helps us see

The document corrects a tempting oversimplification: HTTP is client/server, and search engines remain useful. The strategic alternative is to make search optional rather than to pretend it can be eliminated.

Make one human contribution

Choose three articles you genuinely trust. Link each with an explanation of its contribution and limits. Invite their authors to correct your synopsis without requesting reciprocal ranking links.

How to check whether it helped

Track whether a reader can reach two or more useful independent sources from your page, and whether they can subscribe without an algorithmic feed.

Use a small, observable result: a source that someone can inspect, a working link, a corrections trail, an answered question, or a conversation that preserves disagreement. If nobody can follow the work back to an original, its impact is difficult to evaluate.

What we cannot claim

New hyperlinks may also aid search crawlers; this does not contradict the goal of reducing dependence on a single discovery platform.

Being available on the open web, appearing in conventional search, being retrieved by an AI assistant, and being used in machine-learning training are different events. None follows automatically from publishing. We also do not infer intentional suppression from a single low-reach result.
